Banco Sofitasa

Transactional integration with the core banking system and biometric authentication

Banco Sofitasa

The challenge

Banco Sofitasa faced bottlenecks at both ends of the customer relationship. At onboarding, account opening for individuals and businesses ran on paper forms that bank staff later re-keyed, creating a heavy administrative load in branches, a real risk of errors and incomplete files, difficulty organizing due diligence information consistently, and the possibility of duplicate applications. Day to day, routine transactions still depended on branches, web banking, and assisted channels, precisely as financial activity was shifting to mobile phones. The bank needed to digitize high-frequency operations and deliver a competitive Pago Móvil experience without giving up security, control, or traceability.

The solution

We delivered two solutions wired into the bank's existing technology ecosystem. Digital Pre-registration moves onboarding file capture into a self-service web flow, validated as information is entered and transferred automatically to the core system. Sofimóvil, the bank's official mobile banking app, brings everyday transactions to the phone with a direct connection to the core banking platform. Both share an architectural principle: data stays inside infrastructure the institution manages, and the core banking system remains the system of record for all financial information.

The result

Less manual re-keying and fewer inconsistencies at capture, with more complete files reaching the bank

What we built

Digital Pre-registration (account opening)

  • Access without traditional credentials, using an ID document, an email address, and a personal access link
  • A progressive form with six stages for individuals and eight for businesses, a progress indicator, automatic server-side saving, and continuity across sessions and devices
  • Distinct journeys by profile: personal, employment, reference, and product data for individuals; corporate information, commercial registries, economic structure, contacts, clients, and suppliers for businesses
  • Normalized addresses by state, municipality, and parish, formatted for the bank's systems
  • Banking, commercial, personal, credit, and referral references with dynamic fields and validation
  • Built-in due diligence: PEP declarations, relatives and associates, source and destination of funds, purpose of the application, and legal representatives, all drawn from predefined catalogs
  • Dynamic document requests based on client type and product, distinguishing required from optional items
  • File confirmation and closing, plus a summary email covering documents and the deadline to finalize
  • Automatic transfer to the core system with duplicate checks, logging of every operation, and retries
  • Security controls: each link tied to a single file, per-connection limits, and automatic deletion of expired applications

Sofimóvil (mobile banking)

  • Account views showing available, blocked, and deferred balances, with transaction history and detail
  • Interbank Pago Móvil and transfers between own accounts, third parties, and other banks
  • QR code payments and collections, plus contactless payments between compatible devices
  • Saved payees and digital contracting with electronic acceptance of terms
  • Security: banking credentials, fingerprint or facial recognition, authorized device binding, additional biometric validation for sensitive operations, automatic session timeout, and last-login records
  • Traceability by user, device, time, and origin, with sensitive data masked in audit logs
  • A middleware services layer that centralizes requests, validates operations, normalizes responses, and decouples the mobile experience from internal systems

Impact and results

  • Less manual re-keying and fewer inconsistencies at capture, with more complete files reaching the bank
  • Branch visits focused on finalizing the account rather than building the file from scratch
  • Due diligence information turned into structured steps, improving consistency across files and simplifying regulatory review
  • Greater customer autonomy and less reliance on branch and assisted channels for everyday transactions
  • An expanded digital banking ecosystem and a stronger position for Sofitasa within the mobile payments landscape
  • High-availability architecture for large transaction volumes, with data and documents retained inside the bank's infrastructure
  • A technology foundation ready to take on new financial features over time
